Hi Mods Freaks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here is a nice goodie for your mods-collection: The complete version of the great Hardwired tune by Jesper Kyd / Silents! (Originally composed in October 1991) Indeed, the module everybody knows, the one that can be extracted from the demo, is NOT 100% corresponding to the long music we can hear in the demo itself, when it is running! There are, actually, 127 *NEW* positions to be played before the tune we know. We found this out, with my friend TNO, last night, after he told me that "the introduction of the tune was missing"... but actually, it was not *JUST* the introduction, but 127 other positions! We managed to find these additional positions in memory, after freezing the demo (I had to launch it on my old A500 to make it run ;-) and we were really amazed that *127* new pos had to be re-inserted in the module!! Protracker format doesn't allow 254 positions! :-) But, fortunately, we noticed that nearly all patterns were looped 2, 3, or 4 times; that allowed us to save some positions by using the E6x command (loop). Additionally, we had to shrink some patterns thanks to the 'Contract track' function in Protracker (without losing any note/effect, don't worry) that allowed us to put 2 patterns in 1. (this, several times.) And then, we managed to group together the 254 'original' positions, in the 127 possible for the Protracker format! This took us more than 5 hours (from 2 AM to 7 AM :) ) to do this! The music now lasts 11 minutes 03 seconds (5'41s were added). This is the REAL music that you can hear in the demo. We hope that at least some of you will enjoy this long version! ;) Bye for now, Gryzor & TNO, 24-Nov-96. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- For (fun and) information, here are the positions-tables of the tune: - Before: 00-0F: 2E2F2F2F 32303030 31020404 01010103 ; The *REAL* 254 positions 10-1F: 07070707 0505131C 14151416 1718191A ; as they were found in memory 20-2F: 05050909 09091D1D 1D1D1E06 0606060A 30-3F: 0B0C0D0E 0F101112 08080807 00000000 40-4F: 21212120 1F1F1F1F 1B1B282D 2D2D2929 ; (Many repeated patterns...) 50-5F: 29292A2A 2A2A2B2B 2C2C2C2C 2C2C2706 60-6F: 0606060B 0B0C0D0E 0F101112 22222222 70-7F: 23242324 25262526 25262526 26262707 80-8F: 07070734 34343435 35353536 36363627 ; For info, here start the 90-9F: 25262526 25262537 1F1F1F1F 38383838 ; 127 'old' positions (that A0-AF: 39393A3A 39393A3A 3A3A2121 21201F1F ; you can find in the original B0-BF: 1F1F1B1B 282D1D1D 1E141514 16171819 ; module).
